New York Transportation

Efficient transportation facilities have long been a hallmark of New York, where a strong network of facilities include interstate highways, opportunities for mass transit options, and major airports.
Motor Vehicle Information
New residents have 30 days to register their vehicles and obtain a New York State drivers license. Acceptable proof of identity, age, and residency are required. New residents with a valid license from another state are usually only required to take the vision test. Automobile insurance is mandatory in New York. [More]
Safety & Emissions Testing
All registered vehicles must have an annual safety inspection and emissions inspection. This must be completed within 10 days of vehicle registration. For details, contact:

Six major Interstate highways include 84 and 684, New England Thruway or 95, New York Thruway or 87, Route 17 or 86, and 278 or Cross Westchester Expressway.
